National naming competition deadline approaches

As the entry deadline draws near for a national naming competition to craft the public identity of Grenada’s proposed new Public Hospitals Authority, the official Hospital Statutorisation Transition Team is making a final push to encourage all Grenadians to share their creative input and help shape the future of the island nation’s public healthcare system.

Submissions for the competition – which calls on participants to propose original concepts for the authority’s name, official logo, and brand tagline – will close at the end of Friday, 23 October 2026. Transition team officials emphasize that public creativity will be key to developing an institutional identity that reflects the core values, collective aspirations, and long-term strategic vision of Grenada’s public hospital network.

This naming initiative forms a core public engagement component of the broader Hospital Statutorisation Project, a systemic reform effort designed to elevate the quality and efficiency of public hospital services across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The project centers on establishing an independent statutory body with its own dedicated governing framework, a shift that organisers say will unlock greater operational flexibility, strengthen institutional accountability, streamline management processes, and embed a more robust patient-centered focus across all public hospital services.

Through the national competition, ordinary Grenadians gain a direct opportunity to contribute to this transformative reform by shaping how the new authority will be presented and recognized across the country. Organizers ask that participants center core principles including public trust, compassionate care, inclusive access, innovative improvement, clinical excellence, and national pride when developing their entries. The winning concept is expected to embody a steadfast commitment to high-quality care and inspire public confidence in the future of Grenada’s public healthcare system.

The competition is split into two age-based divisions to open participation to people across all life stages: a Student Category for participants under 18 years old, and an Adult Category for those 18 and older. Cash prizes will be awarded to top entries in both divisions, with first-place winners receiving 1,500 Eastern Caribbean dollars and second-place winners taking home 1,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars.

The Transition Team has extended an open invitation to students, young creatives, working professionals, and all community members to take part, noting that impactful, meaningful ideas can emerge from people of any age or background. While winning submissions will be formally recognized, competition organizers note they retain the right to refine, adapt, or modify winning concepts before final adoption. A winning entry is not guaranteed to become the official permanent identity of the new authority.

All completed submissions must be sent via email to [email protected] no later than the 23 October 2026 deadline. For full competition guidelines, official rules, and real-time updates, the public is advised to follow the Grenada Hospitals Statutorisation Transition Team’s official Facebook page.

As the entry window closes, the Transition Team is reminding Grenadians that this initiative is far more than a simple branding exercise. It is a rare chance for community members to contribute their ideas toward building a shared vision for the future of public hospital care across the tri-island nation, summed up in the initiative’s rallying cry: “Your Voice. Your Hospitals. Our Future.”
