Abinader travels to Prague to attend Forum 2000

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader touched down in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, on Tuesday kicking off a multi-stop European official tour that will run through October 16, with his first stop centered on attending the 30th Annual Conference of Forum 2000.

Hosted at the Prague Congress Center, this year’s Forum 2000 conference centers its agenda on advancing global democratic values and fostering cross-border international cooperation, bringing together high-profile policymakers, civil society leaders, and global institution representatives from across the world. Ahead of his participation in the plenary global dialogue session alongside dozens of international delegates, Abinader is set to hold a preliminary bilateral meeting with Jakub Klepal, the Executive Director of Forum 2000, to discuss shared priorities for the conference and potential future cooperation.

Notable other attendees joining this year’s gathering include Carl Gershman, the founding president of the U.S. National Endowment for Democracy, and Benedetta Berti, who currently serves as Secretary General of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Their participation underscores the broad global engagement with the conference’s core mission of strengthening democratic dialogue worldwide.

Following the conclusion of Forum 2000, the Dominican president will continue his official European itinerary, traveling next to Italy and the Vatican. While in Italy, Abinader has a packed schedule of diplomatic and economic engagements, including meetings with senior Italian government officials and leading business sector representatives. The core focus of these talks will be expanding bilateral economic cooperation and exploring new trade and investment opportunities between the Dominican Republic and Italy.
