A fatal traffic collision on a major tourist thoroughfare in the Dominican Republic’s La Altagracia province has claimed the life of 30-year-old Argentine national Roberto Farías García, leaving his loved ones pushing for official accountability as conflicting accounts of the crash emerge. The incident unfolded along the Frank Rainieri Tourist Boulevard, close to the Domingo Maíz intersection in the busy Verón-Punta Cana region, an area popular with both local commuters and international visitors.
Initial unconfirmed reports from local media circulated one version of events, claiming Farías García had slammed on his brakes suddenly, lost control of his motorcycle, fallen into the path of an oncoming truck, and was subsequently run over by the vehicle. To date, however, Dominican law enforcement and transportation authorities have not released an official report that verifies this narrative, leaving key details of the crash unconfirmed.
According to reporting from local outlet Bávaro News, family members of the victim have pushed back against the initial account. They contend that Farías García was riding properly within his designated lane, en route to drop off completed work, when the truck driver made an unexpected unsafe maneuver that directly caused the collision. Multiple witnesses interviewed by the outlet have also added a troubling detail: the truck driver allegedly fled the scene immediately after the crash, leaving the injured motorcyclist behind.
In the wake of the incident, Farías García’s relatives have issued a formal call for Dominican authorities to launch a full, transparent investigation. Their core demands are clear: locate and identify the truck driver responsible for the collision, and pursue full legal action under Dominican traffic law to hold them accountable for the fatal crash.
