China has formally completed the delivery of 200 residential energy storage systems to the Caribbean twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, marking another key milestone in the long-standing bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The handover of the donation was highlighted by Zhang Peng, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda, during an official reception held to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Confirming the successful arrival of the 200 Chinese-donated energy storage units, Zhang framed this contribution as one of multiple ongoing cooperative initiatives between the two nations. In his address, Zhang reviewed the progress of bilateral relations over the previous 12 months, outlining joint work across a range of priority areas that align with both countries’ development goals.
Beyond the energy storage donation, Zhang called attention to two other major cooperation projects supported by China. The third phase of the China-aid Agricultural Technical Assistance Project has officially kicked off, bringing new technical support and resources to boost Antigua and Barbuda’s domestic agricultural sector. Additionally, a 150-unit housing development funded by Chinese investment is on track for completion and handover to local authorities in the near future.
Zhang emphasized that collaborative efforts between China and Antigua and Barbuda have consistently yielded tangible, meaningful results for both populations. Looking ahead, he reaffirmed China’s commitment to expanding joint work with the Caribbean nation, particularly in critical global areas including climate change adaptation and long-term sustainable development.
“The Chinese Embassy will further enhance communication and exchanges with all sectors of Antigua and Barbuda society, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation across all fields to deliver more tangible outcomes that better benefit our peoples,” Zhang stated in his closing remarks.
