As the 2026 edition’s guest of honor country, Panama unveiled a thoughtfully curated pavilion designed to immerse visitors in the nation’s rich cultural identity. The space showcases authentic Panama folklore, traditional handicrafts, and centuries-old cultural traditions that define Panamanian life, offering fair attendees a vivid glimpse into the country’s history and modern cultural landscape. The opening of the Panama pavilion drew senior diplomatic representatives from both nations, including Yira Ramonet, Panama’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, and Roberto Salcedo, the Dominican Ambassador to Panama, alongside a host of cultural affairs officials from both sides, underscoring the strong bilateral cultural ties the event seeks to strengthen.

As part of its 2026 programming, the pavilion opened with a moving posthumous tribute to Harold Priego, a beloved Dominican cartoonist whose work left an indelible mark on the nation’s comic and visual arts scene. The tribute will run throughout the fair, showcasing a collection of Priego’s most iconic works and celebrating his contributions to the development of Dominican comic culture.
