Antigua and Barbuda opens submissions for 2026 Social Media Excellence Awards

The twin-island Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda has officially kicked off the submission process for its highly anticipated 2026 Social Media Excellence Awards, a program designed to celebrate outstanding creativity, impact, and innovation in digital content creation across the country.

Organizers of the awards initiative confirmed that the entry portal is now open to a wide range of participants, including independent content creators, local small business owners, non-profit organizations, marketing agencies, and community groups that have built compelling, engaged presences on social platforms over the qualifying period. Categories to be recognized cover a diverse spectrum of digital work, ranging from best small business social media campaign and most impactful community advocacy content to excellence in creative storytelling, emerging creator breakthrough, and best sustainability-focused social content.

In a public statement shared with local media, event organizers noted that the awards fill a key gap in recognizing the growing role of social media in shaping Antigua and Barbuda’s cultural dialogue, supporting local economic growth, and amplifying community voices that have historically been underrepresented in traditional media. Unlike many international digital awards that prioritize large follower counts above all else, the 2026 Social Media Excellence Awards place significant weight on engagement rate, authenticity of content, and local relevance, giving small and emerging creators a fair shot at competing alongside more established digital presences.

Submissions will remain open through the end of 2025, with shortlisted nominees set to be announced in early 2026 ahead of an in-person awards ceremony scheduled to take place in St. John’s later that year. Organizers added that the event will also include a series of professional development workshops for local creators, aimed at building skills in digital storytelling, content monetization, and responsible social media practice to strengthen the local digital ecosystem long-term. Local industry stakeholders have welcomed the launch, highlighting that growing the local social media sector can also support the country’s key tourism industry by showcasing Antigua and Barbuda’s natural beauty, culture, and hospitality to global audiences in authentic, compelling ways.
