The aid convoy departed the Dominican Republic’s Sans Souci Naval Station, carrying a total of 110,530 pounds (around 49,735 kilograms) of urgently needed provisions. The diverse shipment covers critical categories of supplies to support impacted communities: non-perishable food items, prescription medications, clinical medical equipment, hand tools for recovery work, personal hygiene products, and household cleaning supplies that will help prevent public health outbreaks in post-disaster settlements.
The entire collection effort was organized in response to an official appeal for donations issued by the Dominican government. Contributions poured in from across the country, with participation from public sector agencies, private sector companies, non-profit organizations, and individual Dominican citizens. All donated goods were gathered at the Dominican Republic’s 27 de Febrero Naval Base, where trained military personnel sorted, categorized, and packed the contributions to prepare them for the overseas maritime journey.
