The countdown to the 2026 edition of the Limacol Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) has passed a major milestone, with league organizers officially confirming the full roster of overseas players set to compete for the tournament’s four franchises this upcoming season. A star-studded lineup of top cricketers from six leading cricket nations — South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and Ireland — will join forces with the Caribbean’s most talented domestic players to compete for the coveted WCPL trophy.
Leading into the tournament as defending champions, the Barbados Tridents have built a formidable international core to retain their title. The squad will welcome two standout players from New Zealand: veteran all-rounder Suzie Bates, and hard-hitting batter Madeline Green, who is set to make her WCPL debut. Complementing the Tridents’ roster are two top Indian talents: fast-bowling all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar and middle-order batter Kiran Navgire.
Hungry to claim their first ever WCPL championship title, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have pulled together an experienced South African-heavy international group, supplemented by a proven Australian batter. The franchise has secured fast bowler Shabnim Ismail, who claimed 16 wickets across the 2023 and 2024 WCPL seasons, to lead their bowling attack. Ismail will receive bowling support from compatriot Nadine de Klerk, while all-rounder Chloe Tryon and top-order batter Tazmin Brits — the only first-time WCPL participant in the Warriors’ international group — round out the South African contingent. Australia’s Erin Burns, who scored two half-centuries for the Warriors in the 2024 season, will anchor the team’s batting lineup.
The 2026 tournament welcomes an expansion team, the debuting Jamaica Empress, who have landed a roster of big-name international talent to make a strong first impression in their inaugural campaign. Headlining the group is former Australia national team captain Meg Lanning, who boasts more than 200 international white-ball matches and over 150 T20 franchise appearances across top global leagues, and will make her first WCPL appearance this season. Joining Lanning are Irish opening batter and wicketkeeper Amy Hunter, explosive South African left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba, New Zealand right-arm seamer Rosemary Mair (also a WCPL debutant), and Pakistani debutant Syeda Aroob Shah.
Completing the lineups, the Trinbago Knight Riders have added elite international skill to their already strong pool of local and Caribbean regional talent. South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who has more than 200 T20 franchise appearances to her name, will make her WCPL debut alongside Australians Laura Harris and Madeline Penna. Harris brings valuable WCPL experience, having represented Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2025 and Barbados Tridents across the 2023 and 2024 tournaments. Leg-spinner Penna is tapped to lead the Knight Riders’ spin attack at Kensington Oval, while Indian wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia completes the franchise’s international signing class for 2026.
