A major public assistance initiative for elderly residents of Antigua and Barbuda is set to kick off later this summer, as energy provider PDV Caribe Antigua & Barbuda Limited (PDV CAB) partners with the national government to roll out the next round of the Senior Citizens Utility Subsidy Programme. The distribution of new subsidy booklets, which cover six months of benefits from September 2026 through February 2027, will run from August 24 to August 29, 2026, at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre in Perry Bay.
Official operating hours for the distribution site are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday, August 24 through Friday, August 28, with a shorter window of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 for any remaining collections. To keep the process organized and efficient, organizers have split distribution across the first five days by the first letter of beneficiaries’ surnames. On August 24, only seniors with last names starting with A, B, or C will be served. August 25 is reserved for those with last names beginning with D, E, F, G, or H, while August 26 accommodates seniors whose last names start with I, J, K, L, or M. Next, August 27 serves seniors with last names starting N through S, and August 28 covers all seniors whose last names start with letters T through Z. The final day, August 29, is open to all eligible seniors regardless of their surname, to accommodate those who could not attend their assigned day.
All beneficiaries are required to bring specific documentation to pick up their booklets. Eligible seniors must present a valid government-issued photo ID, which can include a voter’s card, passport, or driver’s license, along with either their Social Security Pensioners’ Card or their expired previous subsidy booklet. For seniors who are unable to attend in person to collect their benefits, a designated third party may collect the booklet on their behalf. The assigned representative must bring their own valid government-issued photo ID, as well as either the beneficiary’s Social Security Pensioners’ Card or the beneficiary’s previous subsidy booklet.
Program administrators are reminding all eligible seniors that booklets must be claimed within the official distribution window. Failure to collect during this period could result in the loss of the six months of utility subsidies. For any questions, clarifications, or additional information about the program or distribution process, residents can contact the PDVCAB office directly at 562-6185 or 562-6189.
