Pares Main Road Accident Claims The Life Of 47-year-old Gregson Hixon of Grays Farm

A devastating traffic incident on Pares Main Road has claimed the life of a 47-year-old Antiguan man, prompting a police investigation and a public safety warning. The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda confirmed that Gregson Hixon, a resident of Grays Farm, tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision that occurred on Monday, February 16, 2026.

According to preliminary investigative findings, the sequence of events began when the driver of a white Honda Fit, traveling eastbound, encountered an animal near Welch’s Supermarket. In an evasive maneuver to avoid a direct collision with the animal, the vehicle swerved sharply, initially striking the southern sidewalk. This impact caused the driver to lose control, sending the car careening across the road where it struck a large stone on the northern side.

The force of the impact was catastrophic, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its side and erupt in flames. In a coordinated rescue effort, personnel from the fire service and Emergency Medical Services extricated both the driver and Mr. Hixon, who was a passenger, from the wreckage. Both individuals were rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for emergency treatment. Despite medical intervention, Mr. Hixon’s injuries proved fatal. The driver remains hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition.

The Police Administration has issued an official statement extending its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased. Furthermore, the force has seized the opportunity to reiterate crucial road safety advisories. Motorists are being urgently reminded to exercise extreme caution, particularly on poorly lit sections of road and in areas bordered by dense vegetation where the presence of stray animals is more likely. The investigation into the precise circumstances of the crash remains active and ongoing.
