Woman, 52, charged with attempting to export liquid cocaine

A sophisticated narcotics interception operation in Saint Lucia has resulted in criminal charges against a local woman attempting to smuggle liquid cocaine to Australia through international shipping channels. Law enforcement authorities from the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit confirmed the arrest of 52-year-old Marisule resident Angelica Hippolyte following the discovery of the concealed narcotics.

The investigation commenced on December 4 when Hippolyte allegedly presented a parcel at the FedEx facility in Vide Bouteille, declaring the contents as ordinary party supplies destined for international shipment to Australia. During routine customs inspection procedures, officers identified suspicious liquid substances within the package. Subsequent field testing confirmed the material to be liquid cocaine, triggering immediate law enforcement involvement.

Following the narcotics identification, specialized investigators launched a comprehensive inquiry that directly linked Hippolyte to the smuggling attempt. On December 8, authorities executed a coordinated operation resulting in her apprehension. Police formally charged the suspect with two criminal offenses: attempting to export liquid cocaine and possession of controlled narcotics.

Hippolyte appeared before the judicial system on the same day as her arrest, where the court set bail at EC$25,000, payable either through cash deposits or suitable surety arrangements. The case has been formally adjourned until March 12, 2026, while law enforcement officials indicate that related investigations remain actively ongoing.
