SVG find mark at regional archery competition

The Archery Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (AASVG) has unveiled a landmark run of competitive triumphs that capped a transformative 2026 season for the national archery program, spanning both innovative remote regional leagues and high-stakes in-person championships hosted in Guyana. As a trailblazer for Caribbean archery development, the AASVG partnered with World Archery Americas to design and deliver two unprecedented mail-in remote competition formats that eliminated geographic barriers for athletes across the region. The first, the Caribbean Development Archery League (CDAL), connected emerging new archers from 8 nations to gain low-pressure competitive experience without the cost of international travel, while the second, the Caribbean Premier Archery League (CPAL), assembled top-tier elite archers representing 7 Caribbean countries to compete for regional honors virtually. In these pioneering virtual contests, Vincentian archers secured four podium positions: Kobi Branch took silver in the Extraordinary Beginner Barebow Men division at the CDAL, while Divya Jiandani claimed gold in Recurve U21 Women, Richol Richards earned gold in Recurve Women, and Karen Palmer locked in bronze in Recurve Women at the CPAL. Riding the momentum of their strong virtual league performances, Team SVG traveled to Guyana from October 22 to 25 to test their skills against more than 200 archers representing 13 regional nations across two back-to-back in-person flagship events: the 8th Caribbean Development Championships (CDC) and the historic inaugural Caribbean Championships (CC). At the CDC, a four-member Vincentian squad delivered a dominant showing to claim 8 total medals across individual and team categories: Kobi Branch took home gold in Barebow Beginner Doubles Team Men, silver in Barebow Beginner Men, and bronze in Barebow Beginner Mixed Doubles; Alexys Liverpool earned silver in Recurve U21 Beginner Women; Adrian Parris secured two bronze medals in Recurve Development Doubles Team Men and Recurve Development Mixed Teams; and Dreden Lewis picked up bronze in Recurve U15 Beginner Men and Recurve U15 Mixed Teams. Competing against the region’s absolute top talent at the first-ever Caribbean Championships, a five-archer Vincentian delegation pushed through sweltering equatorial heat and erratic wind patterns to add two more medals to their season tally: Divya Jiandani repeated her CPAL success with a gold finish in Recurve U21 Women, while Karen Palmer upgraded her earlier CPAL bronze to a silver in the open Recurve Women division. In an official press statement, an AASVG spokesperson lauded every national team athlete for their relentless grit, unwavering determination, and record-breaking performances across the full 2026 calendar. With the landmark season wrapping up, the association has outlined plans to invest in further technical training upgrades, expand grassroots participation, and scale its regional collaborative initiatives for 2027 and beyond. Local residents across St. Vincent and the Grenadines who are curious to learn archery or enroll in structured training programs are invited to contact the AASVG directly via official email or its public social media platforms for more information on upcoming beginner sessions.
