On a Tuesday flight over the northern Dominican province of Samaná, an unexpected mechanical malfunction forced a helicopter to carry out an emergency landing on the sandy shores of Las Cañas Beach, located in El Limón municipal district.
All four people on board the aircraft, who hold United States citizenship, walked away from the incident completely uninjured. Local emergency management officials confirmed that there have been no reports of injuries or deaths connected to the landing.
Within minutes of receiving the distress alert, first responders from the 911 Emergency and Security System were dispatched to the coastal landing site. They were joined by personnel from the Dominican Republic Navy and the National Police, who worked together to secure the area and provide immediate support to the helicopter’s occupants.
