The Dominican Republic is preparing to make history this October, as it welcomes the PGA Tour Americas for the first edition of the circuit’s season-ending championship. Running from October 15 to 18 at the award-winning PGA Ocean’s 4 course in the Playa Nueva Romana coastal resort, the 2026 tournament will gather 60 of the circuit’s highest-ranked golfers from across Latin America and beyond for four days of elite competition.
Branded the Dominican Republic Tour Championship with sponsorship from Scotiabank, the finale offers competitors a substantially boosted incentive structure compared to standard-season events. The overall prize purse sits at $225,000, while the tournament winner will take home 600 FedExCup points—100 more than the payout at a regular PGA Tour Americas stop. In a departure from most tour events that cut the field after two opening rounds, every one of the 60 invited golfers will compete across all four days, giving every participant a shot to climb the season-long Points List rankings and secure coveted Tour memberships. For the top 10 finishers, the reward is dual qualification: full membership for the 2027 Korn Ferry Tour and direct exemption into the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School, the pathway to the sport’s top global circuit.
The event has secured formal backing from the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism, as part of the country’s broader strategy to cement its reputation as a world-class sports tourism hub. Players from across the region have already praised the venue ahead of the tournament: Mexican golfer Omar Morales highlighted the course’s pristine playing conditions and standout four holes that sit directly overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea, while Argentine standout Mateo Fernández de Oliveira noted that variable coastal wind will add an extra layer of competitive challenge for the field.
The host course, PGA Ocean’s 4, recently completed a targeted renovation led by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II, which upgraded key facilities including all bunkers and tee boxes. Today, the property boasts 27 total holes, an on-site professional golf academy, and a layout that weaves together diverse inland and coastal landscapes, with multiple signature holes running along the Caribbean coastline.
Organizers emphasize that the championship represents a landmark public-private partnership aimed at elevating the Dominican Republic’s profile among international golf travelers. Beyond the on-course action, the event will showcase the country’s world-class golf infrastructure to a global audience of sports fans and industry stakeholders, laying the groundwork for future high-profile golf competitions in the region.
