The countdown has officially begun for one of the most anticipated cricket events of 2026, with the iconic Carlisle Bay gearing up to host the Beach Cricket Blast from September 11 to 13. Organized by the Cricket Impact Group, this three-day festival is far more than a standard cricket tournament—it is a holistic celebration that blends elite sporting action, community outreach, digital engagement, and family-friendly entertainment to grow the sport’s reach among new, diverse audiences.
The event will kick off on opening Friday with the RBC Community Blast, a dedicated outreach initiative designed to introduce the sport to the next generation of players. A total of 250 primary school students from 12 institutions across Barbados will gather on the shores of Carlisle Bay for a morning packed with introductory cricket activities, interactive skill-building challenges, giveaways and prizes, all crafted to leave attendees with a positive, lasting first impression of the game.
Following the community activation, opening day will also see the debut of an exciting new addition to the festival lineup: the VTEX Skillz Challenge. This high-energy, head-to-head spectacle pits a team of six international content creators and social media influencers against a squad of seven homegrown Barbadian influencers and public figures, with bragging rights for the island on the line. Designed to highlight competitors’ athletic skill, physical agility, and charismatic personalities, the contest unfolds across six beach-themed challenges that put a creative, casual twist on traditional cricket: Battle of the Bats, Ocean Slip, Sky High Sand Catch, Ocean Bowl Off, Five in the Bucket, and The Final Over. With Team Barbados set to defend its home turf against a global Rest of the World roster, event organizers anticipate the VTEX Skillz Challenge will become one of the most widely watched and engaging attractions of the entire weekend.
At the core of the Beach Cricket Blast 2026 is the flagship competitive tournament, where six teams will battle across two days of fast-paced beach cricket for the event’s top title. Three familiar teams are returning to build on their successful 2025 campaigns, including last year’s runners-up Deloitte, alongside Guardian Life and Republic Bank. They will face off against three fresh challengers bringing new energy and exciting new narratives to the 2026 tournament: RBC, the MVPz Content Creator All-Stars, and the fan-favorite Barmy Army. Across the three days, the event will unite cricket legends, digital creators, corporate partners, local community organizations, and fans from across the globe for a one-of-a-kind beachside cricket experience rooted in growing the sport for future generations.
